(a) Never look directly at the sun during a solar eclipse (except during the very brief time the sun is in total eclipse; and even then, with caution). Looking directly at the sun can cause permanent damage to your eyes.

(b)The leaves of the trees obstruct (stop) the rays coming from the sun as there is no sun the soil to will be marshy. in some places where the leaves are not thick the sunlight penetrates to the ground... therefore one mostly sees dark patches on the ground in dense forests.
