Give reasons for the following : Anhydrous HCl is a bad conductor of electricity but aqueous HCl is a good conductor.

Since anhydrous HCL contains less amount of hydrogen ions and thus being less reactive,poor conductor , whereas aqueous HCL is in a pure form thus contains maximum amount of hydrogen(H+ ions) . In fact adding water to a HCL solution will not make much difference because of the H+ ions content in the water .
