1) aircrafts fly at heights where the pressure is considerably low so in order to prevent it from getting crushed the cabins are pressurized to withstand the pressure

2) a sharp knife has a smaller surface area in contact than a blunt knife. Since pressure is indirectly proportional to area a sharp knife will apply more pressure. a blunt knife however will apply less pressure by the same logic
