Answer:

(i) Glottis gets covered by a small cartilaginous flap of skin called epiglottis which prevents the entry of food particles into wind pipe while swallowing.

(ii) alveoli are covered with blood capillaries so that the exchnge of gases can take place between the membranes of the alveoli and the surrounding capillaries. The blood capillaries covering alveoli have a low oxygen and high carbon dioxide concentrations. This allows oxygen to diffuse into the blood and carbon dioxide to diffuse out of the blood.

(iii) The cartilage rings are present in the trachea to prevent it from collapsing. This enables the lumen of the trachea to stay open during breathing.

(iv) White blood corpuscles are called soldiers of the body because:

*They protect the body from infections.

* They are capable of squeezing out of. capillaries and disarm pathogens.

* They also manufacture antibodies which are responsible for Immunity.

(v) All plants give out oxygen during the day but carbon dioxide during the night b'coz during the day they undergo the process of photosynthesis and recieve plenty of sunlight but during the night they don't recieve sunlight and thus don't carry out photosynthesis. So they release carbon dioxide during the night.
