Give reasons for the following :

(i) The muscular walls of ventricles are thicker than the walls of Atria.

(ii) Arteries have thick elastic walls. ​

  • the heart is divided into four chamber namely two upper atria and two lower ventricle.

the atria have comparatively thinner walls of the ventricles because atria only receive blood from the upper parts of the body . ie head etc and the ventricles have the pump the blood to the farthermost part of the body

for example toes up to head against gravity.

  • the heart pumps blood at high pressure. if arteries have thin walls they would burst because of high pressure. that is why arteries have thick wall
