Explanation:

Because of kinetic energy differences. there is a relation between kinetic energy, velocity of the particles and temperature. As the temperature increases, velocity increases and so kinetic energy also increases. so the particles carrying the smell of the hot food has high temperature and so high velocity and kinetic energy and therefore moves faster but the particles carrying the smell of the cold food has low temperature as compared to hot food so it has low velocity and kinetic energy as compared to hot food sothe particles move slower. so the smell of the hot sizzling food reaches us when we are several metres away but we can get the smell of the cold food only when we go close to it

Particles in the air, if fueled with higher temperatures, acquire high kinetic energy which aids them to move fast over a stretch. Hence the smell of hot sizzling food reaches a person even at a distance of several meters.
