Give reasons for the following statements:

a. When an atom loses one electron, the protons in the atom has to attract only lesser number of electrons. So the shells are pulled more close to the nucleus, which results in smaller size.

b. Size of atom increases down a group as new shells are added .

c. When we move across a period, the Nuclear charge increase, shells are pulled more closer, so the atoms become smaller in size.
