a) Nitrogen is used for flushing food packets.

a) The packet of chips are flushed with only nitrogen gas . This is because nitrogen is a antioxidant. It prevents the chips from being oxidised. If we flush the packets of chips with oxygen,then the chips react with ixygen and becomes rancid and the smell and taste of food change.

b) Nitrogen controls combustion of substances because nitrogen can be highly reactive at high temperatures, nitrogen oxide compounds form when fuel is burned.

c)Air is mixture, but not a compound because of the following reasons: Air can be separated into its constituents such as oxygen, nitrogen, etc. by fractional distillation of liquid air. Air shows the properties of all gases present in it.
