Our body and throat along with oesophagus can only take in small particles and pieces of food which can help in easy ingestion .

Teeth help in tearing and grinding the food particles into small components or pieces which can easily pass through the oesophagus and reach the stomach for proper digestion .

Swallowing food to quickly or without chewing properly can cause indigestion which is again due to the large particles .

Supplementary information :

  • Teeth help in grinding , chewing , tearing and cutting up the food particles .

  • Ingestion is the process of taking in food through mouth .

  • Oesophagus is nothing but the food pipe .

  • Stomach is a sac like structure filled with HCl or Hydrochloric acid which helps in better digestion .
