Actually I am not from biology field but as much I know I can tell you. Stomata are the tiny pores present on the leaves that are responsible for the exchange of gases such as CO2, O2. So if stomata are blocked the gaseous exchange would not take place. Hence intake of CO2 that is important for plants would not take place. Thus the leaf of a plant dies out

The process of "photosynthesis" stops and so does the gaseous exchange and water vapour exchange. The leaf dies out of suffocation and unavailability of food.
