Question :-

Give reasons: grooves are made in tyres .

____________________________________

Answer :-

➡ Grooves are made in tyres in order to make the surface of the tyre uneven or rough

➡ Making the surface rough would definitely increase the friction of the tyre.

➡ This will help in increasing the grip of the tyre.

➡ Increasing the grip will make the tyre less slippery and hence less prone to accidents.

➡ Thus such a tyre would be reliable and safe to drive .

➡ This is the chief reason behind adding grooves to tyres.

Hope it helps you :-)

The grooves in the rubber are designed to allow water to be expelled from beneath the tire and prevent hydroplaning. The proportion of rubber to air space on the road surface directly affects its traction. Design of tire tread has an effect upon noise generated, especially at freeway speeds.
