Answer:

Northern plain is formed by alluvium deposited by the Ganga , the Brahmaputhra rivers...the states like Bihar , Utharpradesh etc.

this plain is also known as Indo Ganvetic plain

The only desert in India is the Thar situated in Rajasthan.

the less amount of rainfall and the less amount of humus content are the main reason for less vegetation...

Northern plains :

This plain is formed by three river system , The Indus , The Ganga and The Brahmaputra , along with their tributaries . This plain is formed by alluvial soil . It spreads over an area of 7 lakh sq. km. These plains are about 2400 km long and between 240 and 320 km broad.

They are densely populated due to the fertile soil , adequate water supply , favourable climate and terrain .

The rivers originating from the northern plain flows through the mountain and lastly deposit the minerals and silt . This is why Northern plain have a very fertile soil.

The Indian Deserts :-

This lies on the western margins of tha Aravalli hills . It consists of wave like sandy plains with various types of sand dunes also. It receives less than 150 mm rainfall annually . It has a arid climate with low vegetation due to this . Here streams only appear during the monsoon season . Lungi is the large river basin in this reason.

Crescent shaped sand dunes called branches cover most of this deserts , but Longitudinal dunes are also seen on the western edge of this region near the Indo-Pakistan border . This desert is known as Thar desert.
