• When he started, he sold a few of his sheep and bought a shovel, spade, pickaxe, and other equipment to dig a pond so that animals and birds would have easy access to water.
• Later, he used his little funds to recruit labourers to assist him in digging further ponds. All the fourteen ponds are all well connected.
• When the pond at the top fills up, water rushes down to the next pond at a lower elevation, creating limited paths to each of these ponds.
• He felt that spending on them was an asset and the ponds will remain forever.
