Plantation farming requires a large amount of maintenance, modern and more efficient methods of cultivation are used, the plantations are generally found in large tracts of land and also Higher Yielding Varieties, modern irrigation, sowing and harvesting methods are used. Hence, plantation farming (eg: tea, coffee,etc) requires large force of skilled labour.

Hence it is highly labour and capital intensive.
