1) Inundation canals do not carry water during summer as the rivers which feed them, goes dry during this season. Perennial canals usually have water in them all year through, as they originate from dam reservoirs or barrages. Because of this reason, more Inundation canals are being converted to Perennial canals.
2) Groundwater depletion most commonly occurs because of the frequent pumping of water from the ground.
3) Drip irrigation reduces loss of water because it gives plants and crops the right amount of water which leads to water conservation. It is a good method for conserving water as there is scarcity of water in India and monsoon is unreliable in nature.
