Lotus is known to be the aquatic plant which lives in the water.

The leaves of the lotus plant seems to have thick waxy cuticle which aids in repelling water & hence makes the stomata wide open so that water transportation happens effectively in the plants.

The one part of the leaf faces the sunlight and the other side has cells which comprises of chloroplast for photosynthesis because light does not reach underside.
