Because stagnant water is the home to mosquitoes which can result in spreading malaria.
For better understanding, stagnant water means water collected in an area for a long time.

we should not leave to collect water anywhere because the mosquitoes breed there...... the population of the mosquitoes increases in which the female aedes mosquitoes which carries the plasmodium will also mixed with them,this causes malaria.....
