We should prefer to use manure compost instead of fertilizers because :-

(i) Fertilizers cause considerable amount of water pollution due to surface runoffs.

(ii) They cause bio-magnification as well as Eutrophication .

(iii) Excess of fertilizers deteriorate the quality of the soil.

(iv) Excessive fertilizers makes the crop unfit for consumption.

(v) It is more costly which farmers cannot afford .

(vi) It is harmful for the Environment .

Advantages of manures are as follows :-

(i) They do not pollute the environment.

(ii) They are cost free and effective.

(iii) They do not effect the soil quality and besides they increase the fertility of the soil.

(iv) They are naturally obtained.

Thus manure is used instead of fertilizers.
