give reasons why (a)gold is found in free state but iron is not ( b)sodium react with cold water, whereas iron does not. ( c) copper cannot replace iron from its salt solution (d) copper is used for making electrical wires while silver is not(e) cooking utensils are made of metals whereas their handles are wooden (f) sodium is stored in kerosene (g) white phosphorous is stored under water

this all relates to the electro chemical series
and physical properties of the element
gold very less reactive hence find in free state

HEY MATE....
1.Gold is the least reactive metal. It does not react with O, C ,CO3 - etc. to form any compound and hence alwaysfound in free state.
2.Iron doesnt react with water but reactswith steam on prolonged exposure.sodium reacts violently with cold water (as well as air) as it is a highly reactive metal whereas iron does notas it is not so reactive.
3.In the reactivity table copper is less reactive than iron.So copper can not replace iron from its salt solution by the property a more reactive can replace a less reactive metal from a salt solution but a less reactive metal cannot replace a more reactive metal than the less reactive metal from the less reactive metal's salt solution.
4.because silver is very expensive as compared to copper.
5.The handles of cooking utensils are made up of plastic or wood because plastics and wood are bad conductor of heat.
6.Sodium is a very reactive metal. It is kept in kerosene to prevent it from coming in contact with oxygen and moisture.
7.Phosphorus is poisonous and can spontaneously ignite when it comes in contact with air. That's why its stored underwater to prevent its contact with air.
