Acids cannot be stored in metal containers as they will react with the metal, forming metal salt and liberating Hydrogen gas.

Containers made of glass are ideal for storage of acid due to its chemical inertness.

Acids can easily react with the metal which is the main reason that a metal container is not used to store acids.

This will form the metal salt and also gives out hydrogen gas.

Hence, the glass containers are used to store acid. In simple words, chemical inertness is the main reason.
