Give reasons why carbon can neither form c4+ cations nor c4- anions but forms covalent compounds

Answer:

carbon do not form either cations and anions because....

carbon cannot lose 4 electrons to form cations because of its small size...

carbon cannot gain 4 electrons to form anions due to energy considerations...

so carbon neither lose electrons nor gain electrons... it shares electrons....
