There are many reasons why Britain became the first country to experience the industrial revolution.First of all, Britain had huge deposits of coal at the time, which made powering new machines possible . They relied on waterways heavily for transportation. Most of theses coal deposits were present along the waterways making it easier to transport. Britain has a jagged shoreline, which made sea travel easier. In these ways, Britain had the ability to extract and move coal easily.Secondly, Britain had the largest empire at the time. They would export raw materials from their colonies to British mills, for example - most of the cotton in British mills came from North America. They would also sell their finished goods in their colonies... Now that's clever right? This made the process of industrialization easier for them. Finally, Britain had an economy which was less regulated compared to other nations. They had also been free from domestic conflicts for a while, hence making it possible for a business to grow and prosper. And due to the enclosure movement, British landlords had been able to push out peasants from their lands. These peasants turned to the growing industries for work, and Voila! They had a large supply of labour for the new industries that are springing up.All these geographical, social, economic reasons led to the industrial revolution beginning in Britain.
