HLO THERE
I HOPE THIS WILL HELP YOU

Geographically speaking Monsoon winds dont change direction at all.Its the pressure belts of earth that shift Northward in March to may season and the entire wind system shifts northwards.

So in the Northern hemisphere there is a shift of ITCZ ( inter tropical convergence zone) or the equatorial low pressure belt from March onwards.

ITCZ finally stations itself around Thar desert in may month and North India becomes the extremely hot and very low pressure zone.( Also called the monsoon trough).

The southeast trade winds (sanmargi pavan in hindi) also shifts northwards along with ITCZ and crosses the real equator ,. Upon which it turns right and becomes south west wind ( due coriolis force/ Ferrell,s law)This is our south West monsoon or summer monsoon of India and its neighbours)

These than get divided into two main branches the Arabian sea branches respectively. The Arabian sea moves towards west coast of India while Bay of Bengal branch as the name suggests towards Myanmar, Bangladesh, North East India, and West Bengal etc

The two branches finally meet again near Himachal Pradesh and together cause orographic rainfall in western Himalayan range.

We also get a lot of cyclonic rainfall in this period in central and north west parts of India.

Rains continue till September and than the pressure belts shift again towards equator and beyond from September onwards.

By October most monsoon winds ( south West monsoon ) retreats from northern and central parts of Indian subcontinent. Along with equatorial low pressure belt.

The subtropical high-pressure gets established over tropic of cancer again. With it the dry North East trade winds( sanmargi pavan) re-establish itself over much of subcontinent.

These south East monsoon winds ( or trade winds than move south wards cross bay of Bengal and get moisture from there.Along with cyclones from bay of Bengal they cause rainfall on the Coromandel coast , Andhra coast and parts of Kerela.( So Kerela receives rainfall again from south East monsoon as well as North West monsoon.(lucky).

This continues from October till december.later these very south East monsoons cross equator to reach ITCZ now located over Australia and hence Northern Australia gets monsoon rainfall from south West monsoon.( I hope you know that monsoon is a global phenomenon and also occurs in Africa ( gulf of Guinea to Somalia etc, Gulf of Mexico also sees some monsoonal tendencies.

Thus bringing about changes in monsoon wind direction. Because temperature of the landmass changes. Temperature is inversely related to pressure and hence, monsoon winds change their direction after six months. ... As a result, wind blows from land to sea during winter and vice-versa.
