The general rule for any car tyre is that, it should have a minimum of 1.6 mm tread depth along the central 3/4th quarter of the tyre and along the outer circumference of the tyre.

If the tyre depth is less than a minimum of 1.5 mm, it means that the tyre is worn out. It reduces the friction between the tyre and the road. So, it results in a increase speed on the tyres and causing accidents.

As the tyre gets worn out the dynamic friction between the tyres and the road surface gets reduced, thus during braking action the car is likely to slide. Also worn out tyres are likely to burst due to any sharp object and thus forcing the wheels to move on rim. Under such conditions, if brake is applied then the car can go under a spin.
