Give reasons why tools meant for piercing have a sharp edge

Bigger surface applies smaller pressure whereas smaller areas applies greater pressure

For eg. The shoulder strap of bag is often made wide so that it causes smaller pressure on shoulder

The cutting edges of tools like blades, knives etc., are provided with sharp edges to cut the things easily as the sharp edges has small area on which the force is applied, hence more pressure is applied.
