it is so because what is heavier than oil and petrol so when it is played on water explain on oil petrol it settles down and the oil and petrol remains open fire reminds burning so if we use in and on Fire blanket instead we could easily remove that fire and we usually use carbon dioxide in fire extinguisher thank you and market as a brainlliest answer

This is because oil and petrol are less denser than water, which makes them float on water.
Therefore for fires caused by oil/petrol, water cannot be used because water being more denser goes to the surface of the combustible substance and thereby the oil/petrol comes to the top still in contact with air (oxygen) still burns.
