8$x^{2}$ + 16x - 192 = 0

dividing the whole equation by 8, we get

$x^{2}$ + 2x - 24 = 0

$x^{2}$ + 6x - 4x - 24 = 0

x(x + 6) - 4 (x + 6) = 0

(x - 4) (x + 6) = 0

(x - 4) = 0    

x = 4  

(x + 6) = 0

x = - 6

roots of the quadratic equation are :-  x= 4 or x= -6
