1) By eating a particular food or by not eating a food, one cannot balance the diet. There is no substitute for balanced diet. One need to follow the principles of balanced diet throughout life

A balanced diet should provide around

60 - 70% total calories from carbohydrates

10 - 12% from protein

20 - 25% of total calories from fat

2) Growth is influenced by nutrition. Frequent attacks of infectious diseases affect their growth and increase the requirement of various nutrients.
