When the gas formed on heating lime stone is passed
through freshly prepared lime water, the lime water turns milky.​

It is because of the double displacement reaction,,

when carbon dioxide gas is passed through lime stone on heating, it forms a milky substances i.e the white precipitate of lime stone . which when excess of co2 is passed then it again dissolv and become normal
