A coin kept in a bowl is not visible when seen from one side .But, when water is poured in the
bowl the coin becomes visible.

It happens due to refraction.

Explanation:

When light enters from air medium to water medium, the light bends. same happens when light goes from water to air. This make the coin apper and closer to you. but when glass is empty then refraction will not take place since there is no change in medium.
