  • The material used for fuse has low melting point to prevent the electric circuit from fire.If due to some reasons the flow of current exceeds the heat produced in it melts it and disconnect from the power supply.

Answer:

The melting point of the material used for fuses is low because if the current exceeds the limiting value then the temperature of wire increases and the fuse wire melts and breaks down at that very moment. So, the current stops. This prevents damaging the costly electrical appliances connected through the circuit.
