- The word dispalcment means the distance of an object from its starting point to ending point, through a straight line. Whatever path the object may have followed to reach it's destination, it is of least use in measuring the actual distance it have covered, while measuring it in a straight line.
- The path followed by the object to reach a certain point, is known as the distance covered by it, whereas the final distance between the starting and end point measuring through a straight line is the displacement.
