Stoichiometric, Chiral Hydride Reductions. Lithium aluminium hydride (LAH) modified with chiral alkoxide ligands may be used to synthesize chiral alcohols in good yield and high enantioselectivity. Chelating ligands such as BINOL are used to avoid disproportionation and background reduction by LAH.
