GIVE SHORT ANSWERS FOR THE FOLLOWING QUESTIONS. 1.) Deforestation and excess burning of fossil fuels is leading to a global problem. Explain it. 2.) A farmer forgot to dry the crops before storing it. What problems can he face? 3.) How is acid rain a threat to the beauty of the Taj Mahal?

1 Ans :-

♣ Deforestation causes Soil erosion leading to soil infertility.

♣ Deforestation causes change in the rainfall pattern. The area receives less rainfall causing drought condition.

♣ Climatic changes takes place as a result of Deforestation , climate become warmer.

♣ Forests are the natural habitat of many species of plants and animals, due to Deforestation the home of these species are destroyed . Deforestation results in the Extinction of many species.

♣ Burning of woods causes increase in the concentration of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. Reduces Photosynthesis, consumes less carbon dioxide adding to CO2 concentration in the atmosphere. carbon dioxide is green house gas and causes Global warming.

2 Ans :-

Grains obtained by Threshing are died in the open to prevent the growth of microorganisms on them. The dried grains are stored in suitable containers called bins or in jute bags. The storage of grains on large scale is done in granaries and silos. The storage is necessary to protect the grains from pests, insects and rats. It is important to store grains dry. Moisture and humidity can grow fungi or moulds.

The Taj Mahal , suitated in Agra in our country , which is a heritage building and India's most famous tourist attraction is facing a threat to it's remarkable beauty by acidic air pollutants from the neighbouring factories like rubber processing, Automobiles, chemicals and especially , the mathura oil refinery produce pollutants like sulphur dioxide ( SO2 ) and Nitrogen dioxide ( NO2 ) which are responsible for acid rain.

Experts have warned that the white marble of Taj mahal has already deveoped patches of discoloration. Also the fumes emitted from the chimneys of Mathura oil refinery has been responsible for the corrosion of the marble of the Taj Mahal.

However, timely steps and efforts of the Archaeological Survey of India ( ASI ) have resulted in restoring it's past glory.
