INDIAN DESERT

1. India's only desert is the Thar desert. Larger part of this desert lies in the Indian state Rajasthan. Some portion of this desert is spread into Gujarat, Haryana, Punjab and Pakistan.
2. Luni is the only river which flows from this landIt is also known as The Great Indian Desert or Marusthali
3. Thar receives only 150mm rainfall in a year.

India Desert:

  • The Thar Desert is India's largest land. Most of this desert sits in Rajasthan, an Indian province. Some of this desert is distributed across Maharashtra, Haryana, Punjab, and Pakistan. It is also called as the Great Indian Desert or Marusthali.
  • Luni is the only river that flows from this region. Thar gets an annual rainfall of just 150 mm. In the season, the temperature rises to 49 degrees and in the winter it sometimes drops to 5 degrees. Kutch’s Great Rann sinks into this area. It is a salt plain in Kutch, Gujarat.

Plains on the coast:
