The Bolsheviks were born out of Russia's Social Democrat Party. When the party split in 1903, the Bolsheviks only had one obvious leader -Lenin . The Bolsheviks founded by Vladimir Lenin and Alexander Bogdanov, were by 1905 a major organisation consisting primarily of workers. Their beliefs and practices were often referred to as Bolshevism.
