Similarities between plastids and mitochondria are:-
1.Both can produce their own copies by division.
2.Both contain DNA which is different from that of the nucleus.
3.Both are double membrane organelles
Differences between the two are:-
1.Plastids occur only in plant and algae cells whereas mitochondria are found in all eukaryotic cells.
2.Main function of mitochondria is the cell respiration but that of plastids involve in production of sugar and temporarily store them as starch as well as storage of starch and lipids.
