HELLO DEAR,

These can be distinguished by the iodoform test.

\bold{iodoform\; test.} acetophenone being a methyl ketone when treated with NaOI ({I_2/NaOH}) gives yellow PPT. of Iodoform but benzophenone does not.

\bold{C_6H_5COCH_3 + 3NaOI \to C_6H_5COONa + CHI_3\downarrow + 2NaOH}

\bold{C_6H_5COC_6H5 + NaOI \longrightarrow No\; yellow\; ppt. \;of \;CH_3}

I HOPE IT'S HELP YOU DEAR,
THANKS

HEY DEAR ... ✌️

Here's , Your Answer :-

=) First understand :-

_____________________________

(i) Acetophenone = C6H5COCH3 .

----------------------------------------------------

(ii) Benzophenone = C6H5COC6H5 .

=================================

⏺️ We can distinguish them by using Iodoform Test .

So , Reactions :-

1.) For Acetophenone .

=] C6H5COCH3 + 3 NaOI ➡️ C6H5COONa + CHI3 + NaOH .
Yellow ppt will be seen .

2.) For Benzophenone .

=] C6H5COC6H5 + NaOI ➡️ No yellow ppt will be seen .
