Characteristics of Force :

✍️ It produces or tries to produce motion in a body at rest.

✍️ It stops or tries to stop a moving body.

✍️ It changes or tries to change the direction of motion of a body.

✍️ It can produce a change in the shape of a body.

Depending upon it's origin, forces can be classified as field forces & contact forces.

✍️ Field Forces : Bodies can exert forces on each other without actual physical contact. This is known as action at a distance.

✍️ Contact Force : The force exerted by one surface over the surface of another body when they are physically in contact with each other is known as contact force.

Forces are due to an interaction of at least two objects. It may change the state of motion of an object. It may change the shape of an object. Forces applied on an object in the same direction add to one another and resultant is in the same direction.
