It plays a very important role in Indian economy. It is closely linked to agriculture and rural economy and contributes over 14% of industrial production in the country. India is world's third largest producer of textile after China and USA. The cotton textile industry is an organised sector. The cotton mills has two mills- Spinning Mills of Yarn and Composite mills of Yarn and Cloth both.
