The large iron and steel plants use large quantity of heavy and weight losing raw materials.

Example--Concentration of iron and steel industry in chota nagpur region, TISCO at Jamshedpur.

2)Market

Nearness to market is important in order toto minimize transportation cost.

Example--Visakhapatnam steel plant located near the coast has excellent import-export facility

3)Labour

Availability of cheap labour is also important.

Example--Bhilai steel in Chattisgarh

4)Availability of electricity

Mostly hydro and water for cooling.
