Discrimination in History
We can easily come up with examples of disrcimination both now and back in the time. Let's take a look at the older cases.
Maybe the very first discrimination affected women. As we might already know, women were not equal always. Back in the ancient times women counted only as a mere tool or servant. They had no rights or opinions. On the other hand, they had to do nothing else than bringing up the children, cooking and cleaning. Women were equalised in the 20th centure in most of the countries. However, there are still some countries where this has not happened yet.
Another ancient discrimination is slavery. Many of the early civilisations was based on the work of slaves, like Babylon, Egypt, Ancient Greece or Ancient Rome. After the beggining of the middle ages this vanished from Europe. However, at other places, it continued living. Only in 1853 in the USA they declared the freedom of slaves - which were mainly Afro-Americans.
A special type of discrimination exists in India. Their society is (mostly) based on the 'caste system'. This is a system which is divided into castes into which you can only be borned. At the bottom of the pyramid the 'Untouchables' are placed. They are basically slaves and still exist nowadays.
A very tragical and close case is the nazism (or National Socialism) and the discrimintion of jews. This was the mainly the ideology of Germany between 1933-1945 (but it started in the National Socialist German Workers' Party, NSDAP), led by Adolf Hitler. Nazism fought against the communism by drawing away workes from it. One of its main elements is that it allows their followers to think themselves superior than other races.
