(i) The National Assembly reduced Louis XVI to the status of king only in name.

(ii) The kings powers were checked by the Constitution of 1791.

(iii) Laws were enacted abolishing the feudal system of obligations, privileges and taxes.

(iv) The clergy too was forced to give up its privileges.

(v) Tithes were abolished and lands owned by church confiscated.
