Explanation:

I once was invited several times for a job at the university hospital in Salzburg, but had to pay my travel costs of 500km single route by myself; after my first and more than promising, exciting visits, with in my view very perfect interviews with all members of the lab I had a chance to meet, the acting chair of the department really wanted to hire me - and then I had to come another time to meet the Human Ressources department. Surprisingly, that day the acting chair of department - instead of the women's representative - was there and tried to help me to get the job; but the HR woman told me I won't be able to get the job since I am a man, and the department is not allowed by the government law to hire a man (although the job description never mentioned this !!!) due to a lack of women in such a position (Clinical Chemistry). So I didn't get the job, but to my big surprise: just one week after the job should have startet, the same position was announced again in the newspapers, as well as online... So how crazy is Austria to not accept filling a position with someone who is accepted by all medical and scientific members of the lab - and needed to provide service to a university hospital?
