I'll give you a few examples:
1) Sale of sweaters: As the temperature goes up the number of sales goes down
i.e. Increasing temperature decreases sales: Sales ~ 1/Temperature
2) Squishing a party balloon: As you compress the ballon you decrease the volume casuing the pressure inside to increase (sometimes explosively!)
i.e. Decreasing volume increases pressure: Pressure ~ 1/Volume
3) Gravity: The further you move away from the Earth the weaker the pull of gravity.
i.e. Increasing distance decreases force : Force ~ 1/(Distance)^2
The '^2' in this example indicates that the force is inversely proportional to the distance squared; this is simple a result of gravity acting in three dimensions.
Im sure if you had a think about it you could come up with many more inverse proportionality relations, there are lots out there!
Hope this helps.
