• It is used in the metallurgy ( extraction ) of gold and platinum.
• It is used in the manufacture of dyes , drugs and organic compounds such as CHCl₃ , CCl₄ , DDT , refrigerants (CCl₂ , F₂ , freon ) and bleaching powder.
