1) Using Lubricants: By lubricating the surface friction can be reduced. (eg) graphite powder is used as lubricant in machines to reduce the friction

2) Streamlining: Streamlining bodies like ship will help to reduce the friction between fluids.

3) Smoothing/polishing: Smoothing/polishing a surface will reduce the irregularities present in the surface so that the friction is reduced. (eg): Polishing the mirror and rolling a ball over it.
