Give specific examples of instances/occurrences/events/situations that may have played a factor in the behavior exhibited. Stick to the information provided; do not add other events to Greg’s life.

Case Study: "Greg"

Greg is a 22 year old living in a rural community in Oregon. He comes from a broken family where his mother and father fought frequently until they were divorced when Greg was 13. Growing up, Greg was on his own frequently, often with the task of taking care of his little sister who was 8 years younger than him.

Greg is an intelligent guy, but got in many fights in high school, struggled to pass classes and was kicked off the football team his senior year after being accused of stealing a teammate’s wallet on a road trip. The incident caused Greg to lose scholarship offers from two local division 2 colleges.

After graduating, Greg went to a community college part time while he worked, but dropped out to take care of his 3 month old son. He said that he just wasn’t smart enough for college anyway, that he was meant to be a mechanic like his father.

Now Greg struggles to pay rent and child support and his bill at the sports bar down the road. Greg has had a few run-ins with police, mostly for bar fights and domestic disputes. He and his current girlfriend fight frequently, often times coming to blows. He has a hard time holding a job for more than 6 months as he often gets in arguments with his boss.
