ANNELIDA made up of two Greeks words - ( annelus = ring ; segmented worms )
1) Body is soft , elongated, bilaterally symmetrical, vermiform and cylindrical or dorsiventrally flattened .
2) Some of anterior body segments concentrate to form head .
3) Body bears lateral locomotory appendages in the form of segmentally arranged pair PARAPODIA , chitinous SETAE or chaete.
4) The body is true Coelom. it is divided by transverse septa into compartments .
5) The excretery system consist of coiled tunnels , the metanephridia which remove wastes from Coelom to the blood stream directly to exterior in form of urea and ammonia .
6) A closed circulatory system has appeared .
7) The reproduction occurs by sexual means . the sexes may be separate or United .
8) Examples :--- Nereis, Aphrodite , Pheretima , Tubiflex & Hirudinaria etc .
