Give suitable answer for the following questions : a) Differentiate between a saturated and an unsaturated solution. How will you test whether a given solution is saturate or not?
b) How would you prepare a saturated solution of sodium chloride in water a given 25°C? What will happen if this solution is cooled to 15 °C.

(b). To prepare the saturated solution of NaCl at 25°C, take a measured volume of water (say 100 ml.) in beaker and warm it up to 25°C. Then add NaCl pinch by pinch at constant stirring and observe the point when no more NaCl is dissolving in water.

If the solution is cooled down there is a mere possibility that the solution may gets formed as unsaturated.

(a). Saturated and Unsaturated solutions :-

Saturated Solution:- A solution with solute that dissolves until it is unable to dissolve anymore, leaving the undissolved substances at the bottom.

Unsaturated Solution :- A solution (with less solute than the saturated solution) that completely dissolves, leaving no remaining substances.

We test that a solution is saturated or not by looking if no more solute can be disslove in the solution at given temperature then it is saturated solution. and if more solute can be dissolved in it then it is unsaturated solution. If a saturated solution is cooled then we see some solid.
